AR vs RR Team Relay & Social

We have been talking to Reepham Runners and have organised a fun and social relay event on the evening of Thursday the 22nd of August which is NOT about speed.

The aim of the relay is for all teams in each club to finish in as close as possible total time to each other for the 4 legs (1.5 miles per leg). So for example if AR have a team in 20 minutes and another in 28 minutes (8 minutes difference) but RR have a team in 18 minutes and another in 30 minutes (12 minutes) then AR would win the relay as they have the smallest time difference between the teams.

What I need from you:

If you would like to run, please let Will know your expected time for running 1.5 miles (2.4km) and I can collate teams of 4 to target the smallest difference.

We need 2 timekeepers and 3 marshals so please volunteer for this if you’d prefer to do this instead.

All are welcome at the relay (including family) and All Day Brewery will be be putting on burgers, wood fired pizzas and refreshments.

Any questions please let me know.

Update

Where: All Day Brewery, Salle Moor Hall Farm, Salle. (W3W: loaders.swimsuits.skippers)
When: Arrive from 6pm, first runner to start at 6.30pm. If marshalls and timekeepers could arrive as close to 6pm that would be great.

Key Details:

  • Teams of 4 – The winning club will be the one with the smallest difference in time between the quickest and slowest team. It’s all about running your predicted time/pace.
  • Below are the teams with your predicted times, I have created the teams so that they should all roughly finish at the same total time.

  • You MUST stay in the order written below for your team to aid the timekeepers recording each individual leg for each team.
You will notice that your time may be different to what you submitted, this is due to the course now being 1.3 miles (2.1km) rather than 1.5 miles. I have adjusted your new time to be the same pace but for the shorter distance.
  • AR and RR teams will both be staggered at 1 minute intervals to avoid club teams all finishing at the same.
  • No running watches will be allowed, this will mean you will need to run to feel rather than monitoring your pace on your watch.
  • Please wear AR Kit if possible.

Current marshalls: Valerie Minns, Sarah Collins, Adrian Jay & Chris Coates
Current timekeepers: Catherine Townsend & Alison Catherine

As well as the main club prize there will also be prizes for fastest male and female runner.

Food and drink will be available throughout the night, it may be worth family/friends ordering their food whilst the relay is on to avoid a backlog once the race finishes. Additionally, it is advised to order your food and drink once you have finished your leg to again keep the flow of food orders going rather than everyone all at once at the end.
Just to reiterate, friends, family and kids all welcome!

Any questions let me know.
